Installation Instructions (Android)
Here are the easy steps to download and begin using AetherX2 on your Android device:
Download the AetherX2 APK file from the link given above. Enable “Unknown Sources”:
Go to your device Settings
Navigate to Security or Privacy
Enable “Install apps from unknown sources” (this will enable you to install APKs not from the Play Store)
Install the APK:
Open your Downloads folder or File Manager
Find the AetherX2 APK file
Tap on it and choose Install
Wait for installation to finish
Launch AetherX2:
Open the application from your home screen or app drawer
The emulator will ask you to set up the BIOS file (necessary for legal emulation)
Set the game directory in which your PS2 ISO files are located
Load Your Game & Play:
Select a game from your collection once you’re set up
Tweak settings if necessary for best performance
Play your favorite PS2 classics on your Android device!
Important Notes:
You need to provide your own PS2 BIOS, which the emulator needs to work.
Use only legally acquired game ISOs.
For best performance, make sure your device has the recommended specs above.
Note: You will need to supply your own PlayStation 2 BIOS and legally owned game ISOs to use AetherX2.
AetherX2 Setup Guide (Android)
Step 1: BIOS Setup (Required)
A PlayStation 2 BIOS is required for AetherX2 to work. For legal reasons, we cannot supply BIOS files. You will need to dump the BIOS from your own PS2 console or buy it legally.
Supported BIOS file names:
scph10000.bin
scph39001.bin
scph70012.bin
(Region doesn’t matter: USA, Japan, or Europe are all supported)
How to set up BIOS:
Put the BIOS file in a folder on your device (e.g., /Downloads/Bios/)
Run AetherX2
Go to Settings > BIOS
Tap Select BIOS file
Go to your BIOS folder and choose the.bin file
Tap Confirm
A green checkmark should show if the BIOS is good.
Step 2: Controller Setup (Optional)
You may use external Bluetooth controllers or even on-screen touch controls with AetherX2.
To link a controller:
Pair your controller over Bluetooth in Android Settings
Open AetherX2
Go to Settings > Controller
Tap Controller 1
Map buttons manually, or use Auto-detect
Compatible with most gamepads: Xbox, PS4/PS5, 8BitDo, and Android-native controllers.
Step 3: Loading and Playing PS2 Games
Save your PS2 ISO files (.iso, .bin, .img) to your device
Open AetherX2
Press “Select Game Directory” (often on initial launch or in settings)
Go to the directory where your games are saved
The app will scan and list available games
Press any game to begin playing!
Tip: Employ OpenGL or Vulkan in video settings based on what suits your device best.
Performance Tips
Activate Frame Skipping for low-end devices (Settings > Graphics)
Reduce the resolution scale to enhance speed
Turn on Bilinear Filtering only if required
